Sheriff's Office Investigating Death of 54 Year Old Man

09/08/2013

Saturday, September 7, 2013 at approximately 10:45 am, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Norfork Fire Department and Baxter Regional Medical Center responded to a 911 call of a deceased male on CR265 in the Arkana area.  When Sheriff’s Deputy, Sgt. Mike Holland arrived he observed the victim, 54 year old Donald Dean Farrier, lying face down on the ground about a foot from the steps to his residence.

The father of the victim told authorities his son usually comes to their residence and has coffee with them in the mornings. When his son didn’t show up for coffee the second morning he went to the residence to check on him, found him and called 911.

Sheriff’s Investigator Eric Neal and Deputy Coroner Brad Hays arrived and began the investigation.  Due to the time frame of last contact and the condition of the body, it is believed the victim had been deceased for a couple of days.  There is no apparent trauma to the body.  The body is being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office at the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.  The investigation is continuing.
