08/29/2013

Gilberto Jabiel Salinas

On August 23rd at approximately 9:42 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 31 Woodhaven Lane near Gassville on a report of gunshots being fired in the area.  Upon arrival at the residence, deputies made contact with 29 year old GILBERTO JABIEL SALINAS.  Deputies inquired of SALINAS about the reported gunfire.  SALINAS replied he knew nothing about gunfire and that there were no firearms in the residence.

At this point, deputies could visually see a loaded magazine for a pistol in plain view.  An NCIC inquiry revealed SALINAS to be a convicted felon from the State of Texas and thereby prohibited from possessing firearms.  He was at the residence alone.

Deputies later found several firearms and some ammunition inside the residence.  These were identified as:

  • ·         Walther P99 9mm pistol with two magazines
  • ·         Springfield XP-5 .45 cal ACP pistol with two magazines
  • ·         Palmetto PA15, .223 cal rifle (AR-15 type) with four magazines
  • ·         ID INC USA 7.62x39 cal rifle (SKS type)
  • ·         182 rounds of ammunition
  • ·         Eight (8) spent 9mm cartridges

These firearms and ammunition were seized and taken into evidence.  GILBERTO JABIEL SALINAS was arrested for Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (convicted felon) and transported to the Detention Center.  He remains incarcerated in lieu of $15,000 bond, with a court appearance set for September 5th.
