SALEM MAN DIES FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT ACCIDENT THIS AFTERNOON

07/19/2013

An accident on the property of Tedder Equipment Company, 2232 West Road in rural Mountain Home, has claimed the life of a Salem man, 62 year old Michael Martin.

At approximately 12:00 noon today, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by the 911 Call Center of a man trapped under a trailer at that location.  Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene.

Investigators learned that Michael Martin had gone to the business to pick up a tractor that had been left there for repair.  The tractor was loaded onto a trailer that had not yet been fully secured to Mr. Martin's truck.  Mr. Martin was standing between the trailer and the truck.  The weight of the tractor shoved the trailer forward into the truck and trapped Mr. Martin between the two around his head.

Michael Martin was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center.  He was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:25 PM by the County Coroner's Office.
