07/01/2013

Jessica Lynn Smith

A woman has been arrested on breaking or entering and theft of property charges following an investigation into a stolen car motor.  On June 26th, the Sheriff’s Office took a complaint from a man at 2930 Highway 201 South indicating a 4 cylinder automobile motor for a ford passenger car had been stolen out of the back of his truck.  This motor was valued at $800.  The victim told the Sheriff’s Office he had already contacted local scrap yards and had discovered that the motor had been sold as scrap to Twin Lakes Recycling by a woman for only $13.39.

Records of the sale indicated that 26 year old JESSICA LYNN SMITH of Gassville had sold the motor to the recycling center and had signed paperwork that was prepared to document that transaction.   She had no authorization to enter the vehicle or take control over the contents thereof.

JESSICA LYNN SMITH was booked into the Detention Center on June 29th at approximately 5:20 PM on charges of:

Breaking or Entering – Felony
Theft of Property – Misdemeanor

SMITH was released after posting $5,000 bond.  She will appear in Circuit Court on July 25th.
