CHILD FOUND SUBMERGED AT CRANFIELD SWIM BEACH HAS DIED

     The Sheriff's Office has learned that the young girl found submerged under the water at Cranfield swim beach Sunday afternoon has died. 

     Sheriff's deputies were alerted at approximately 3:23 PM Sunday afternoon, June 30th, by a U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Ranger that a child had possibly drowned at the Cranfield swim beach at Lake Norfork.  Emergency responders arrived on scene within minutes.  The child had been removed from the water, and CPR was being administered by an off-duty Baxter Regional Medical Center Emergency Room employee who was at the beach. 

     The child, identified as 6 year old Frankie Lyn Tollen of Mountain Home, was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home and later to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock were she died at approximately 5:45 AM this morning. 

     According to the report, family members began looking for the child after she failed to return from visiting the restroom.  The child was found submerged in approximately five feet of water at the Cranfield swim beach.  Responding agencies included the Sheriff’s Office, U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Rangers, Arkansas Game and Fish Officers, the Northeast Lakeside and Gamaliel-101 Area Volunteer Fire Departments, and paramedics from Baxter Regional Medical Center.
