SALESVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER PASSING COUNTERFEIT BILL AT LOCAL BUSINESS

04/29/2013

Bradley Wayne Stowers

On March 25, 2013 it was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that a business in Baxter County, Guy King and Sons, had apparently been given a counterfeit $100 bill as payment for goods.  The bill was missing the magnetic strip and did not appear to be made to governmental standards with respect to the ink or paper utilized.

Upon further inquiry, it was learned that a person identified as BRADLEY STOWERS had gone to the business on behalf of his employer to purchase goods.  STOWERS had been provided by his employer with a company check with which to make said purchase.  STOWERS instead made the check payable to himself and used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for said goods at Guy King and Sons.  The business thought this unusual as the customer had always paid by check for previous transactions.

Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a warrant for the arrest of BRADLEY W. STOWERS, which was served on him on the afternoon of April 27thBRADLEY STOWERS was booked into the Detention Center on charges of:

Forgery – Felony
Theft of Property – Misdemeanor

STOWERS was released after posting $5,000 bond, with an appearance in Circuit Court set for May 2nd.
