DEPUTIES DISCOVER BODY OF MAN WHEN CONDUCTING A WELFARE CHECK

     Baxter County deputies discovered the body of a rural Mountain Home man Friday evening, April 12th, when asked to conduct a welfare check at 236 Bell Cove Rd. by a friend who had not heard from the man in a few days.

     Sheriff’s Deputy Chuck Menschik made entry into the residence at approximately 9:39 PM and discovered the body in a bedroom, identified as 53 year old MARK LAIAN FEILEN.  Sheriff’s Investigators and the County Coroner were called to the scene to initiate an investigation.

     Indications were that a suicide had occurred.  The victim’s wrists were cut.  The body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to determine the cause and manner of death.  A preliminary reports confirmed manner of death as suicide, confirming that the wrists were cut and that the victim had also shot himself with a pellet gun.
