Patrick Dean Brewer
October 4, 2012
The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 Year old Patrick Dean Brewer of Mountain Home, this afternoon on Felony Theft Charges stemming from an incident that begin in June of 2011.
Sgt. Brad Hurst, Sheriff’s Investigator, was contacted by a local attorney on Monday, October 1 about an incident involving his client and her boat. After the initial report it was learned that a Mountain Home Woman purchased a boat from Extreme Outdoors, 3225 Hwy 62 East, Mountain Home. After the sale, the woman asked Patrick Brewer if he would sell another deck boat for her. She asked a price of $15,000. Several months went by and when she didn’t see her boat at the business she contacted Brewer inquiring about her boat. Brewer told the woman he had the boat in Hot Springs and was sure he had it sold. A few more months elapsed and when the woman contacted Brewer again, he told the woman the first deal had fell through and the boat was now in Pocahontas, Arkansas and that he had it sold if a scratch on the boat could be repaired. Several more excuses were given to the woman until more than a year had gone by and she contacted her attorney.
Sgt. Hurst was able to obtain records which showed that the boat in question had been registered to a new Mountain Home couple in July of 2011. Sgt. Hurst located the boat at the Lakeview Marina and was able to locate the new owners. The new owners confirmed they had purchased the boat and a lift from Patrick Brewer for $20,000 in July of 2011. They also confirmed the Brewer had serviced their boat at the Lakeview Boat Dock since their purchase.
When Brewer was questioned about the woman’s boat this afternoon, he told investigators that he indeed sold the boat, but it was to a St. Louis man two weeks prior and that he was waiting for the check to clear the bank before paying the woman. Brewer was taken into custody without incident.
