City of Gassville Celebrates 12th Annual Gassville in the Park

The weather held off during the Parade and most of the morning during the “12th Annual Gassville in the Park”.  Numerous Vendors, Civic Organizations, and Businesses were on hand to help celebrate.  An Antique/Classic Car show and a 5k Run were just some of the events that were provided during the day.  The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office provided their D.A.R.E. trailer and Reserve Deputies to fingerprint youth and provide handouts.

Local Youth Wins National Elks Essay Contest

Americanism, what does it mean to you? When asking local Pinkston Middle School student James Swartz it means a lot.  James along with over 200 other local students entered the Elks Lodge Americanism Essay contest and explained what it means to them.  James wrote an essay entitled “What Veterans Day Means to Me”.  His along with 3 others were submitted to the state wide competition where James essay won. It was then sent on to the National competition where his words about Americanism won again.  We are very proud of his accomplishment and would also like to commend all the students that volunteered to submit an essay!  Thanks go to the Mountain Home Elks Lodge and all they do for the youth of our community.
